Mimmo Rotella

Domenico Mimmo Rotella is an italian plastic artist, born on October 7, 1918, in Catanzaro, Italy, and deceased on January 8, 2006, in Milan.

After his discovery of advertising posters as an artistic way of expression and a city's message, Rotella began to stick on the canva posters' torn pieces, and exhibited for the first time these works in 1955.

Friend of the art critic Pierre Restany, Rotella joined the movement New Realism in 1960, even if he didn't officially signed the manifesto. In 1961, he took part in he exhibition "40° above Dada", organised in Paris by Restany with Arman, César, Yves Klein, Deschamps, Villeglé, Hains, etc.
