Daniel Spoerri

In 1942, Daniel Spoerri moved to Switzerland, where he met Jean Tinguely in Basel in 1949. He began a carreer of dancer at the Bern Theater, before dedicated himself to theater as a director, actor, mime artist and decorator.

Spoerri moved to Paris in 1959, where he invented his first "trap-works", by stickink on panels objects of daily life, taken from his hotel room, becoming out of the ordinary by passing from the horizontal to the vertical. These works conducted him to join the New Realism movement during its foundation in 1960.
