Hervé Télémaque, born on November 5, 1937, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is a french painter from Haiti, associated to the narrative figuration current.
Télémaque wants to compose his own plastic vocabulary. In his works, we can find objects of daily life: white canes, tennis shoes, camping tents.
After a long period where Télémaque exclusively practised collage and assembly, Télémaque returned during the 1980s to painting and drawing. In painting as in sculpture, his goal is to make surprising things or usual objects, to open possibilities of diverse significations to icones or snatches or icones, originally unequivocal.
Hervé Télémaque lives and works in Paris since 1961.
