MAHKU (Movement of Huni Kuin Artists), founded in 2013, lives and works between the municipality of Jordão and the village of Chico Curumim, in the Kaxinawá (Huni Kuin) Indigenous Territory, in Acre. The collective translates Huni Meka songs into images that guide participants in nixi pae rituals with ayahuasca, expressing relationships of otherness and connecting the indigenous and non-indigenous worlds. Their paintings are bridges of dialogue that transform visionary experiences into images, often bringing together mythical narratives, ancestral stories, and the living presence of nature entities, seeking healing and spiritual experience for both artists and audiences.

With a unique iconography characterized by human and non-human figures integrated into graphic patterns inspired by Huni Kuin body paintings, MAHKU renounces Western perspective and proportion and dedicates himself exclusively to the forces of miração, visionary experiences stimulated by ayahuasca. The result is a spiritual, collective, and healing art that transforms mythical narratives into visual and sensory experiences.
